By Appointment Only

Slivers of time is all I get,
Fit me in between here and there.
There's no space for spontaneity,
Can't explore the possibilities,
Let's just see what's down the next road:
Sorry, I believe our time is up.
Maybe I'll see you again sometime,
As long as it's not anytime.

The Idea!

Sometimes I still consider it.
How absolutely silly of me
To contemplate the impossible, the ridiculous, the tried-and-untrue,
The one-sided fantasy.
To persist in something
Never worth the time's effort
Never mind my heart!
As if a tearing of time
Could have rendered a reality;
It's only pathetic.
Pleading with the incompetent;
All too laughable
And yet, I speculate.

Ode to Migraines

Give it a few days, it will pass
It seems nowadays that the months go so fast.
Cannot move, can't sit still
Wonder if I should take another pill.
Bagpipes buzzing in my skull
Pain is throbbing, never dull
All that I love can act as a trigger!
Prying my eyes open takes extra rigor.
Bring me some ice, turn out the lights,
It's time once again for a losing fight.

By Appointment Only is a "dudgirl" favorite!!! But seriously, I think we all have a bit of the dudgirl in us, and a bit of the cool girl, too. I really liked the last 2 lines..."as long as it's not anytime" -very profound.

I haven't check here in so long --because you've been so silent. I am glad I did today. I enjoy each one and the assortment of verses.
So whose the character inspiration for 'by apptment?' or is it just a reference to todays fast paced reality wherein friendships/relations take second place--by appointment only?
I can relate to 'the idea'. U provide wise wit.
Got me laughing 'ode to migrains'.
hello silly almost reminds me of Pinks stupid girl...were your intentions along the same direction?
Whats a dudgirl? I'm not up to par with todays lingo.

I try not to write any poem for one or attacking one specific person - even if I have an initial character inspiration I like to broaden it. Actually, I wrote the "silly" poem before the Pink song, but upon seeing her video for the first time I felt a comraderie with Pink I'd never felt before. As for "dudgirl" that's an expression coined by Bon relating to how a girl, especially a teenager, feels when they are down on themselves.

I totally hear ya on that song...Its a such productive use of music. The video is hysterical.
Someone once said to me there is no avant garde. I never understood what they meant until I'd see others produce ideas I had. They simple had the means or connections to work it.
BTW thanks for the share on the food blog...good inspiration.
